READING

Just a reminder that every child should be making time to read everyday. Reading plays an important role and has a huge impact on the education of children. Making time to share reading is an important step in learning comprehension strategies, not to mention that it is fun. Please follow up with your child to see if they have read each and every day. Everyone has a home-reader that they should be reading at night. When children arrive at the class in the morning, they can then exchange their home-reader. Many students have already formed this habit, which is wonderful to see. Please support this routine at home and enjoy reading together.

LITERACY PRO

Well done to Neve who has already achieved her Blue and Red Certificate for Literacy Pro. Neve really enjoys reading and it sure does tell. Keep up the excellent effort - we are all so proud of you.

SPEAKING TASK

All students will need to present a 2-5 minute presentation on the topic: What makes me special?
Presentations will be held in Week 5, from Tuesday, 3rd March. Presentations may be in the form of a power point or poster, and palm cards are essential. We look forward to hearing more about what makes each of you special.

STUDENT COUNCILLORS

Congratulations to Room 18's Student Councillors for Semester One who were elected by their peers after delivering a speech to their classmates. Charlotte and Daniel will make wonderful Student Councillors and represent the views and opinions of their classmates well when it comes to whole school meetings.

Well done to all of the children who presented their speeches. Signora Isaia and I were both most impressed with the thoughts and considerations you reflected on. A top effort from all.

WELCOME BACK

We have had a fantastic start to 2020 and I am pleased with the progress made by all students. Primarily, the first couple of weeks are about setting standards, establishing routines and revising previous concepts and skills. It is very pleasing to see so many students accessing and completing the 'Motivational Work.' Additionally, a large number of students have gone about completing their nightly reading which is beneficial for when Literacy Pro begins. Keep up the fantastic effort, Room 18.

Aussie Day: Friday, 14th February (this Friday) is Aussie Day at Wattle Grove. Children can come dressed in 'Aussie' style clothes. Please, no thongs, singlets, vests etc. Appropriate footwear and shirts are expected. A gold coin donation is encouraged with all money raised going towards the Bushfire Appeal.
